Facebook Places and Your Business
Earlier this week, Facebook introduced "Places". This is very similar to other location-based social services like FourSquare, Gowalla, and Loopt. Some of those services are working with Facebook even though it appears Facebook could replace them if it wanted to. Our contacts at Foursquare let us know they feel very good about working with Facebook.
Every business will have the ability to claim their listing. I just filled out the form to claim WebMedley and am now waiting on Facebook to authorize it.
Claiming a business on Places requires a different authorization process than the other services. In the screenshot below, you can see the four types of info they would like when making a claim.
If you would like us to make the claim for you, please e-mail me your federal ID (not your SSN) and one of the four types of documentation. If you do not have an electronic copy, just fax it to me at 859-422-8422 or scan and e-mail.
The four types of documentation are:
* Articles of Incorporation
* Certificate of Formation (for partnerships)
* Local Business License issued by a government entity
* BBB Accreditation
There is no fee for this if you use our content update and/or the Local Business services. If you do not use these, then the fee is $99 (one time).
If you have any questions, please call or e-mail.
